Akademiska Sjukhuset - Mottagningen for Hjarnstimulering

The Brain Stimulation Unit (Mottagningen for Hjarnstimulering) at Akademiska Sjukhuset (Uppsala University Hospital) offers ECT and rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) as well as other psychiatric treatments requiring advanced monitoring. The unit is part of the section for Acute and Consultation Psychiatry. Uppsala University Hospital has been at the forefront of TMS research in Sweden, with studies demonstrating that magnetic stimulation of the brain can be an effective treatment for depression, including during pregnancy. The hospital was also the first in Sweden to offer transcranial ultrasound for brain disorders.
