Replied to How long do TMS results typically last?
Two years out. Did one round of maintenance at month 18. Still feel like myself. Best decision I've ever made.
Replied to Just finished my 36-session TMS course — here is my honest review
Just finished session 36 today and reread your post. So much of it tracked. The taper feels weird — like I'm waiting for it to wear off.
Replied to Headaches after TMS sessions — when do they stop?
Just finished today's session — first one with zero headache. Took almost 4 weeks for me. Everyone's timeline is different.
Replied to New Stanford SAINT protocol showing 90% remission rates — what it means for patients
The 90% number is from a small RCT. Real-world numbers are closer to 60-70% which is still huge vs ~50% standard.
Replied to Headaches after TMS sessions — when do they stop?
Session 8 here, and the headaches finally feel like a 2/10 instead of a 6/10. Hang in there OP.
Replied to From barely surviving to actually living — TMS changed everything
Did anyone go through a 'TMS dip' around session 6-8? My provider warned me but it still surprised me.
Replied to Struggling with the waiting period before TMS starts
Crisis lines don't fix the wait but they got me through three really bad nights. 988 if you're US-based.
Replied to TMS for anxiety (not just depression) — my experience
Health anxiety has been the toughest piece for me. TMS knocked the volume down enough that CBT finally landed.
Replied to Free virtual Q&A — "Ask a TMS Specialist Anything" — April 19
The recording was really informative — especially the part about the difference between iTBS and standard 10Hz protocols.
Replied to Just finished my 36-session TMS course — here is my honest review
What was your insurance situation? Curious how the 36 vs 30 session count was handled.
Replied to How long do TMS results typically last?
26 months. No maintenance yet but I sleep, exercise, and stayed on a low-dose SSRI as a 'belt'. Working so far.
Replied to Headaches after TMS sessions — when do they stop?
Mine eased around session 10. The tech adjusted the angle slightly and that helped a ton — ask them to recheck the F3 placement if it persists.

Important nuance: 'durability' depends a lot on whether you address what was driving the depression in the first place. TMS without therapy = shorter runway in my support group.
Replied to How long do TMS results typically last?
18 months out, did a 5-session refresher in February. Honestly think the maintenance schedule is the difference between durable and not.
Replied to Struggling with the waiting period before TMS starts
Waited 9 weeks for prior auth. Used the time to do a med washout under supervision and start journaling daily — both ended up helping the TMS work better.
Replied to Headaches after TMS sessions — when do they stop?
Update: I'm now on session 14 and you all were right — the headaches have gotten much milder. Taking ibuprofen before the session was a game-changer. Thanks everyone!
Replied to Can I do TMS if I have a metal dental implant?
I had this exact worry! I have a titanium plate from a jaw surgery 10 years ago. My TMS doctor confirmed it was totally fine. I'm 20 sessions in with zero issues.
Replied to How I got my insurance to cover TMS after initial denial
For anyone with Medicare — it's been covered since 2021 and the approval process was much smoother for me than what Jennifer describes with private insurance. My out-of-pocket was about $800 total.
